My history so far
... What do you do after spending over 20
years in the Royal Navy Submarine service as a Tactical Systems
specialist - the answer - surround yourself with a forever changing
environment fixing sick computers. All I
need in the office to complete the environment is a periscope, oh,
and the smell of hydraulic oil! I started using
personal computers in 1980 with the purchase of Sinclair ZX80 with
1kb of memory. Before long I upgraded to the ZX81 and then
came along the 16Kb expansion pack - an absolute must. I was
so amazed with the technology that I worked my way through all the
new leaps in technology over a 6 year period until the introduction
of the 8086 the start of modern PC's as we know them and then I lost
count. In the
last 14 years we have moved from 25Mhz with 1Mb of memory to a
whopping 4000Mhz (4Ghz)+ with over 3000Mb (3Gb) of memory and it's
still going up. Interactive high
definition gaming, digital photography, film editing and online
banking were things to dream of.
The internet is now
the most widely used advancement of them all. However, If it
wasn't for the bad people of the world - yes you know who you are -
bombarding us with Spam, Viruses and worse, tricking us into phantom
purchases etc.. the internet would be an even greater place.
Help is at hand - I'm one of the good guys, trying my best to fight
the bad guys.
I also fix
computers, build computers, write databases, clean the car and mow
the lawn. |
